Got love for Whisky, Bourbon, Rum, or Brandy? Well the next time you’re in downtown Decatur, GA this is your stop! Decatur is a small city of the metro Atlanta area. Independent Distilling Company is ran by Michael with help from his father, who was our tour guide. They’re using locally sourced ingredients such as corn and molasses to create their smooth spirits and recycled casks to infuse the flavors while aging.
My girlfriend and I were able to enjoy a tour and taste some of their offerings and hand crafted cocktails. The purchased tour experience for two included six tickets for tasting the individual liquors but they offered cocktails for purchase. I really enjoyed the HellBender Mule, that features their HellBender Corn Whiskey. My girlfriend, Porshia, enjoyed the HellBender Old Fashion, which features their HellBender Bourbon. They sell their bottled spirits and the corn grits they use to make their alcohol.
